A walk designed to investigate and explain the traumatic events that occurred in Dublin in 1916 and beyond, brought to life by Dublin City Walks.

Starting with the fight for Home Rule, the Howth gun-running and the outbreak of WW1. The leadership of the Rebels and their Citizen army allies, the printing of the Proclamation and the site of the first casualty of the Rising.

Visit sites associated with the fighting that shocked the British Empire- Dublin Castle, College of Surgeons, The GPO and the Moore St. battleground and surrender location.

Learn of the executions and deportations that laid the foundations for the War of Independence and the eventual partition of Ireland. The stunning 1918 election victory for Sinn Fein and the guerrilla war that ensued. These are some of the most important events that helped form modern Ireland and still reverberate today.
